What Is Artificial Intelligence?

Definition

Artificial Intelligence is technology that enables computer systems to perform tasks normally associated with human intelligence, such as reasoning, learning from data, recognizing patterns, and making decisions.

Importance

AI has moved from an experimental technology to a genuine operating requirement across most industries, and the gap between organizations using it well and those still exploring it is widening quickly. Understanding what AI actually is (and, just as importantly, what it isn't) is the foundation for making sensible decisions about where to invest, rather than adopting a technology because of the label rather than what it can genuinely do for the business.

Application

We work with the full spectrum of AI capability, from machine learning models that predict and classify, to large language models that generate and understand language, to agentic systems that plan and act. Rather than applying AI as a generic label, each engagement starts by identifying the specific business problem AI could realiztically solve, then choosing the right category of AI, and the right level of complexity, to solve it, whether that's a straightforward predictive model or a fully custom AI-powered application.
