Definition
Infrastructure as Code is the practice of managing and provisioning IT infrastructure through machine readable configuration files, rather than manual setup, so infrastructure changes are version controlled, repeatable, and auditable in the same way application code is.
Importance
Manually configured infrastructure is where configuration drift, security gaps, and slow, inconsistent recovery after an incident tend to originate, since there's no single source of truth for what the environment should look like. Infrastructure as Code addresses that directly, and it's increasingly treated as standard practice rather than an optional DevOps refinement, particularly for organizations running AI and data workloads that require infrastructure to scale quickly and predictably.
Application
We define client infrastructure through version controlled configuration files rather than manual provisioning, so every change is reviewable, reversible, and consistent across environments. Where AI assisted tools help generate infrastructure code faster, we pair that with validation and policy checks built into the pipeline, since AI generated infrastructure code still needs the same security review as anything else before it reaches production, speed shouldn't come at the cost of catching a misconfiguration before it ships.
