Definition
Proactive Monitoring is the continuous observation of systems to detect and resolve potential issues before they affect users or operations, rather than waiting for a failure to generate a support ticket.
Importance
Reactive support, where problems are only addressed once a user reports them, means every incident has already been affecting people for some unknown period before anyone starts fixing it. Proactive monitoring closes that gap, often catching a degrading disk, a failing service, or unusual resource usage well before it becomes an outage, which is the difference between a scheduled fix and an emergency one.
Application
We monitor client infrastructure and applications continuously using remote monitoring tools, with predefined automated responses for common alerts and a clear escalation path for anything that needs hands-on attention. Every alert becomes a tracked, resolved ticket, and monthly reporting gives clients visibility into what was caught and fixed, including issues they never had to experience directly, since the value of proactive monitoring is largely invisible unless it's actively reported on.
