Definition
SD-WAN is a networking technology that uses software to manage and optimize connections across an organization's wide area network, routing traffic intelligently across multiple connection types rather than relying on a single fixed path.
Importance
Traditional WAN architectures route all traffic through a central data center, which adds latency and creates a single point of congestion or failure, particularly awkward for organizations with cloud applications and multiple locations. SD-WAN routes traffic more intelligently based on real time conditions, which matters increasingly as more of an organization's traffic goes to cloud services rather than a central, on-premises data center.
Application
We deploy SD-WAN for multi site clients who need reliable, optimized connectivity to cloud services without routing every request through a central location first, configuring intelligent routing that adapts to real time network conditions across each site. This is typically paired with broader network management services, since SD-WAN performance depends on the same ongoing monitoring and maintenance any other piece of critical network infrastructure requires to keep performing as configured.
